In the 4 weeks since the last post, work on the new kitchen has continued at break-neck speed. My father finished all the cabinets and moved them from his workshop into the new space. Quartz countertops were delivered and installed yesterday. The heating and electrical have been updated and ready for new light fixtures to be installed. New wood floors have been installed and blend well with the existing wood floors throughout the house.
We’re now just waiting for the new sink, faucet and dishwasher to be hooked up in order to have a fully functional working kitchen, and decorative light fixtures to be installed to add special elements to the space. The floors will get 4 coats of polyurethane to seal them and really bring their beauty out.
In the meantime, work in the kitchen will be on hold while we enjoy cooking and entertaining in it for the rest of the summer. In the Fall we’ll pick up again and work will include tiling the backsplash and building the custom kitchen island.
